This journey goes beyond sightseeing. We visit women's cooperatives, schools, and health centres woven into the fabric of mountain life, living expressions of the ethic of service and care that has shaped our community for generations. We pray together in historic Jamatkhanas. We sit with artisans, farmers, and elders whose commitment to community, service, and faith resonates deeply with our own.

Throughout the journey, we'll visit Jamatkhanas across the region, some more than a century old, and experience the spiritual traditions that continue to shape life in these mountain communities. These spaces are more than places of worship. They are centres of learning, service, and belonging that have connected generations through times of change and growth.
From glacier-fed lakes to some of the world's highest peaks, Northern Pakistan inspires a sense of wonder that is difficult to put into words. These are not simply beautiful places. They are the landscapes that shaped generations of mountain communities and the stories they carry.
Long before anyone called it empowerment, women across Northern Pakistan were building institutions, nurturing communities, preserving traditions, and creating opportunities for future generations. Through conversations with entrepreneurs, artisans, educators, and community leaders, we gain a deeper appreciation for the leadership, creativity, and determination that continue to shape life in these mountains.

We are Ismaili. We grew up hearing about places like Hunza, Gilgit, and the Karakoram as more than destinations. They are part of our shared story as a community. These mountain communities are where our faith has flourished for centuries, where Jamatkhanas stood long before roads reached the valleys, and where generations built lives shaped by service, resilience, and community.
For years, we heard about the schools, health centres, cooperatives, and development projects that transformed life across the region. We heard stories of mountain villages framed by some of the world's highest peaks. We saw photos of places that felt both distant and deeply familiar.
Eventually, we decided to go.
We wanted to pray in a Jamatkhana at the foot of a glacier. We wanted to meet the people behind the stories. We wanted to better understand the communities that have shaped so much of our shared story.
So we planned the trip we always wished existed. This is it.
